Opportunity for Work and Learning (OWL) is nonprofit organization that partners with communities to help individuals overcome barriers, such as mental and physical disabilities or prior incarceration, to achieve personal and professional growth! OWL offers a diverse range of services which assist individuals in becoming valued and contributing members of their community, breaking the cycle of dependency and isolation, through three divisions:
1. The OWL Center provides vocational rehabilitation and employment services such as life skills classes, vocational evaluations, counseling, job skills certification/training, resume development and job placement to individuals with barriers to employment or higher education.
2. Advancing Capabilities & Enhancing Skills (ACES) assists people with developmental and intellectual disabilities by providing services that help them gain inclusion, independence and a higher quality of life. ACES often assists program participants with positive behavior supports, getting involved in their communities and daily living supports such as budgeting and making appointments.
3. The Lexington Manufacturing Center (LMC), not only provides high-quality manufacturing services on the local, national and international levels but they assist OWL in reaching their community-serving mission. LMC supports OWL’s services financially and serves as a training ground when appropriate- allowing program participants to earn income, receive skills training, and gain work experience.
