      This review is for the optical department, specifically for Ms. Combs, the optical employee who has helped me every time I've been in the office. I came to BlueGrass Eye Care Center after over 30 years of great treatment at another practice. I was hoping to get some creative thinking for problems I'd been having with contact lenses. I saw two different doctors in the practice at BlueGrass, but the prescriptions they gave me weren't as clear as I had hoped for. Shawn Combs patiently listened to my concerns, reviewed my charts and gave me several different trial pair of contacts to try. She clearly marked them so I could remember what I was trying, explained how each might work differently from the next, and urged me to come back (4 times!) until we got the prescription right. I'm very grateful to Ms. Combs. I can now see things I haven't been able to see clearly for years. And the reason for that success is Ms. Combs' patience and willingness to try and try again, using her outstanding knowledge of contact lens products. She could have sent me back to the doctors for yet another exam and another co-pay, but instead, she worked with me directly -- and kept a great attitude the entire time!

      Dr. Bowers is great, but the optical shop is dishonest for multiple reasons. First, was quoted a price match at $65/box (originally $85/box). Went to pick up my contacts - 2 boxes for a sixth month supply - and the total was $170 and I owed $50 (after insurance paid $120). That math is off since it should be $65/box and I should be paying $10 after insurance. Was told, "oh I thought you wanted the price match on the next six months supply." Say what?!? Huh?!? Why would I want a match later?! You can't do a price match now? Was told that the price quote was before they ran insurance (even though they had that the entire time). Why would the price match be dependent on $120 insurance copay? You either match it or you don't. I was told I didn't understand. Umm, I've been ordering contacts for 15 years (not to mention I've had the same eye insurance since 2008), I know how it works. Now, because they already charged my insurance, I have to wait (up to two weeks) for a reversal...without the ability to order new contacts from anywhere else. Ridiculous. Classic bait and switch with prices and I know it's only $40 but it's the principle. And I love that they tried to tell me 1800contacts.com didn't take my insurance. Yes they do...just got off the phone with them and as soon as you put through my insurance reversal, they will charge me correctly and I'll owe $10 with free shipping. Which is what I would have done had you not claimed you price matched! I wish I could charge YOU for time wasted. Again, love Dr. Bowers but I can't stand when people don't honor prices and try to blame me for their incompetence. I cannot in good faith recommend this place.
