Kentucky American Water

Kentucky American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK) and headquartered in Lexington, KY., is the largest investor-owned water utility in the state, providing high quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to customers in portions of 14 counties: Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Gallatin, Grant, Harrison, Jackson, Jessamine, Nicholas, Owen, Rockcastle, Scott and Woodford. The company’s roots date back to 1882, when three Lexington businessmen established the city’s first water works, Lexington Hydraulic and Manufacturing Company. The waterworks began operations in 1885 and has remained an investor-owned utility ever since.
