About the Business
We're a bit like our hometown: sophisticated, well-traveled, but grounded in our roots. We believe there's nothing more important than taking time to dine well with family and friends in a beautiful space. And we have a passion for all things Bluegrass - curing our meats in-house, supporting the region's diverse farming and food community, and keeping a local-first mindset in everything we do. Epping's is located in a renovated historic building that once held Epping Bottling Works, home to the hustle and spirit of local entrepreneur John G. Epping. Today, we are proud to honor that history and be part of the energy of downtown Lexington's Warehouse Block.

Well, they did it again. We ate here last year while visiting our daughter and couldn't wait to get back this year to see if the food was as amazing as we remembered it to be. If it's even possible it was even better this time. The chicken satay is one of our favorites and the roasted carrots; well I didn't think it was possible to make a carrot taste that good. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is phenomenal. They don't cram you in next to each other like some places so the atmosphere is nice and relaxing.
Just go. You'll be very happy you did.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Seven of us had a birthday dinner last evening & it was really nice. Very busy but attractive venue. Food was very good; service was a bit off, perhaps due to busy evening. Terrific crab bisque, chopped salad, chicken, lamb & fries. Oddities: 7 of us but only brought 5 plates for bread; two were never asked what cocktails they wanted; and 3 soups but no spoons. It all worked out; but, that's why the rating is three stars rather than four.
All agree, we will return to try other items!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 6, 2024Updated review
Rainy day brunch at Eppings. Several years since I'd been. Nice environs. Had a spicy Bloody Mary to start, very good. Ordered the Biscuits and Gravy. Not enough sausage. Too thick gravy. Waitress actually brought extra gravy, which was nice. I would have been good with one biscuit. Asked for jalapenos, $2.00 extra. Enough to share. Pickled jalapenos would have been better. Pricey for what my brunch was. Setrvice fine Note, a 3% charge if you use a credit card.

This gives each side a more cozy vibe. We went for drinks. My Eastside Manhattan, a bourbon cocktail, was just OK. I was shamed into ordering the Moho Poutine. Not a fan of poutine. My poutine misgivings were somewhat allayed. This is not your typical version. The fries were married with mojo pork butt, tomatillo gravy, queso fresca, cilantro, and pickled shallots. Missing was the heavy gravy and those chewy, squeaky curds which, for me, was a good thing. This was a poutine even I could find palatable. Do go!

I ate here for a sponsored meal upstairs. It was a presentation dinner meeting so this review should not be construed as reflecting the restaurant downstairs.
That being said I thought the food was good. I had a filet which was a little over cooked but that can be expected when trying to feed a number of people at the same time. The sides were good as well. Same can be said for the trio of small servings of desert.
Service was excellent as there were two waitresses assigned to the group.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information

Great place for brunch! Had friends visit from out of town and I knew exactly where to take them! It was a large group and Epping's was very accommodating for all of us. The waitress was very friendly and answered all of our questions. Epping's has a great brunch menu with many options. I ordered the Smoked Turkey Club and was very impressed, it was huge! The shrimp and grits looked delicious along with the eggs benedict! Will be back!

Went to Eppings with a group of 7 girls and they took the best care of us. We shared a variety of small plates and every single one was delicious. The drinks were great, the restaurant is beautiful and the staff is warm + kind. I can't wait to go back.

JULIA ROBERTS MOMENT. On April 4, 2024 at 5 pm we walked into Epping's. Two of us live in Ashland Park and we were entertaining an out of town guest. Our guest happened to be the COO of a high end restaurant franchise. Not kidding. Upon entering we were stopped. We said we are going to just sit at the bar and have drinks and appetizers. The "hostess" said nothings available for an hour to an hour and a half. Again, we said we didn't need a table we were just going to sit at the bar counter. She nastily said "we don't have anything." We could see two open seats at the bar although they weren't together. She was sitting on a bar seat. She never got up. She never looked at the bar. Since Epping's have two bars she could have gotten up and looked in the other room. She didn't. She could have gotten off her bar seat and tried to seat us using the two open seats. She could have asked a manager. Instead she just sat on her bar seat and smirked at us. Embarrassed and stunned we said thank you and left. Our COO remarked that the front of house needs some serious training as that is the face of the company.
We went to the sister property, Coles where we had a delightful experience. Greeted and seated by two hostesses and our server. We enjoyed drinks, wine, appetizers and full entrees. Wonderful service and fabulous food.
Epping's however was a horrible experience. Our COO friend usually orders the majority of appetizers to try and it's nothing to have two bottles of $70+ wine. Even with average service we all tip 30-35%.
To the young unprofessional judgmental hostess at Epping's, in the words of Julia Roberts, "Big Mistake HUGE"!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kelly H.Nashville, TN0113Apr 13, 2024
This was quietly literally the best meal I've ever had in Lexington. We got the Korean cucumbers and spring rolls for appetizers - amazing. I had the crab bisque and red lentils for dinner - superb. Everyone's else's dinner was amazing too - gnocchi, fish and chips, and salmon. All of the drinks were delicious. I had the passion fruit drink which lasted me the whole meal and every other drink we had was wonderful as well. 10/10!

Love this spot! Great wine selection, you can actually view the bottles as you walk in. We came for dinner, ordered a bottle of wine, 2 cocktails, 4 small plates, and 2 deserts for $160 (not including tip). This was more than enough food! Do NOT skip the roasted carrots, so niche but so good. Great friendly service, i would recommend a reservation even on a week night.

Really cool place. The food is expensive but well worth it. They also gave us desert on the house for celebrating a birthday. I'll be back!!

The food is always incredible. I've tried several dishes and I'm impressed. The service was good. The ambiance is very pleasing to the eye. I've enjoyed the experience each time. I'd like to go back, but the 3% service fee keeps me at bay. With the food ($30. for 2 crab cakes is a bit too much for me) already costing a big price, tip, and fee is more than I can afford too often. It doesn't change my opinion of this restaurant. If you have the money to go I'd suggest you give it a try.
